Hypnotherapy is often an excellent means of helping a client to move forward and effect life changes.

There is much mystery about Hypnosis and the very name is derived from “Hypnos”  the Greek God of Sleep, however anyone who has  experienced Hypnosis will be aware that the subject is not asleep.  They may be very relaxed but are usually  aware of everything that is said and always retain control of mind and actions.  Indeed it is in all of our interests to maintain awareness as co-operation is required.

Unfortunately stage hypnosis has often caused people to be concerned that they may lose control of their mind or that someone will have access to their innermost thoughts.  We can rest assured that this is not the case as the subject will always remain in control.

In Clinical Hypnotherapy it is important that there is communication between the therapist and the subject throughout the session

                     Some frequently asked questions:

Q.  Can I be hypnotised?  I’ve heard not everyone can.

A.  There are very few people who cannot be hypnotised. If you have a reasonable attention span and can understand and follow simple instructions you will be able to be hypnotised if you want to and are prepared to follow those instructions of course.  Roughly 5 to 10% of the population may not be hypnotised.  We find it very rare indeed.

Q.  Will you have control over me and my mind?

A.  No.  You retain full control at all times.

Q.  Will I tell you all my innermost  thoughts?

A.  No. You will divulge what you want to or what you feel is necessary and like any therapeutic relationship the more trust you place in the therapist the more you are likely to tell them or discuss sensitive issues.

Q.  Are there any adverse health risks?

A.  There is no evidence to suggest that hypnosis is harmful in any way.  Hypnotherapy can run in conjunction with any medical treatment you may be having.  However some medications may have an affect on concentration and attentions span and consequently whether you would be hypnotised.  If you are on medication you should make the therapist aware and they can check the medication before you carry on

Q.  Will I change my personality?

A.  That depends on you, people make the changes they need, hypnotherapy often gives them the power or inner strength to make the changes they want for a better quality of life.

WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

It is a natural every day phenomena which involves a deepened state of
relaxation. You remain in full control and are not unconscious or asleep.
It can be likened to reading a book and getting lost in the story or driving a
car and arriving at your destination not quite being aware of the journey itself.

Most people experience a great feeling of well being and a more positive

outlook following a hypnotherapy session.

Hypnotherapy can help you with  many things, from phobias , confidence or many stress related diseases (see Stress and Ill Health) to achieving your ambitions or goals for life.

Self Hypnosis is  a very  powerful  tool that once  learned  you can use to assist you throughout your life.
